Peruvian candidate for president Alan García challenged Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez to a debate on CNN and told him that speaking is easy "when your belly is full of oil."

"If he wants to have an argument with me, I am ready to do it through CNN. I am prepared to do it, but let us discuss clearly the economic models that he has in Venezuela and concerning what would happen if he stopped selling oil to the United States," García said, AFP reported.

President Chávez threatened Friday to recall the Venezuelan ambassador to Lima if García is elected president, and called him "corrupt, scoundrel and thief."
