CARACAS, Tuesday March 21, 2006 | Update
Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has proposed at the
National Assembly (AN) to name Francisco Arias Cárdenas
as Ambassador to the United Nations (UN.)
The ruler requested in a communiqué through the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs authorization of the legislature to appoint
Arias Cárdenas as permanent diplomatic representative
to the multilateral organization, TV news channel Globovisión
reported.
According to the Parliament, Arias Cárdenas, former
comrade-in-arms of Chávez during a coup attempt in 1992
and then opposition candidate, has enough merits to occupy
the position.
