Venezuela has set in motion 12, 10 MW/hour powerhouses in
the Caribbean island of Antigua, as part of Petrocaribe agreements,
state oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) reported
Friday.
Commissioning of the portable plants started Thursday to
increase the local power generation capacity by 25 percent,
AFP quoted.
The electrical service will be provided for six continued
months. This term might be extended until one year through
company Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).
Also, Venezuela is pondering on fuel storage facilities to
supply oil byproducts in accordance with Petrocaribe, an initiative
launched by Caracas last June 2005 to sell oil and fuel to
the Caribbean on preferential terms and conditions.
A total of 4,400 bpd of fuel will be allocated to the island.
