Communication and Information minister Yuri Pimentel Wednesday
vowed to ask the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel)
to conduct an investigation "for the purposes of punishing"
any media that violates an order banning disclosure of the
judicial investigation into the murder of public prosecutor
Danilo Anderson.
He said he would call for imposition of fines amounting to
up to two percent of gross revenues of the relevant media.
Pimentel appeared Wednesday before the National Assembly
Science, Technology and Media Committee. He explained that
punishments could be imposed on the media broadcasting messages
calling people to disobey the laws and obstructing law enforcement
by state security corps and the judiciary.
