Mexican government spokesman Rubén Aguilar replied to
the remarks made by Venezuelan Vice-President José Vicente
Rangel, who suggested Mexico "to take a seat and wait" for
the apologies from the Venezuelan government, Mexican El Universal
daily reported.
"We are very patient and can wait for the appropriate apology,"
he stated.
However, the official explained that the Mexican government
is not weighing breaking off relations, but, on the contrary,
restoring full understanding with the Venezuelan government.
"We have all the time in the world. We can wait for apologies
and will always act cautiously to overcome the diplomatic
conflict," Aguilar commented.
"Beyond blustering and high-flown words, the gap can be bridged
in a prudent, serious and responsible manner, as such disagreement
is not appropriate for either nation."
The official stressed that the Foreign Ministers of both
countries keep in touch.

Admired by the Colombian guerrilla after his coup attempt in 1992, the then lieutenant colonel Hugo Chávez Frías received financial support by the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) for his projects after his capture that year. This mostly explains the relationship and "debt" between the parties, as revealed by a paper of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) of the United Kingdom.
