There are no pro-Chávez groups in Ecuador, a diplomat says

Gustavo Bastardo, Councelor at Venezuelan Embassy to Quito, Monday rejected that groups supporting President Hugo Chávez are being organized in Ecuador, reported DPA.

Bastardo, however, admitted there are groups in Ecuador that sympathize with the so-called Bolivarian project, based on Liberator Simón Bolívar thinking.

The diplomat ruled out a support by his government to pro-Chávez groups in other countries, referring to a Bolivarian Movement of Ecuador meeting held last week in Ecuador.

This meeting, said Bastardo, "is an initiative from each people and Venezuela does not intervene because it would amount to an intromission in other nations' domestic affairs."
