CARACAS, Monday July 04, 2005 | Update
Gustavo Bastardo, Councelor at Venezuelan Embassy to Quito,
Monday rejected that groups supporting President Hugo Chávez
are being organized in Ecuador, reported DPA.
Bastardo, however, admitted there are groups in Ecuador that
sympathize with the so-called Bolivarian project, based on Liberator
Simón Bolívar thinking.
The diplomat ruled out a support by his government to pro-Chávez
groups in other countries, referring to a Bolivarian Movement
of Ecuador meeting held last week in Ecuador.
This meeting, said Bastardo, "is an initiative from each
people and Venezuela does not intervene because it would amount
to an intromission in other nations' domestic affairs."
02:57 PM. HEAVY RAINS. Venezuelan Executive Vice-President Elias Jaua reported that the government is designing plans to support farmers, cattlemen and peasants of the state of Mérida who have been hit by heavy rains that have caused crop losses.
