Citgo faces piteous situation, says auditor

Citgo audit vice-president Vladimir Noriega Tuesday described as pathetic the situation facing the subsidiary of state-run oil company Pdvsa in the United States.

His remarks came during an enquiry before the National Assembly Comptroller Subcommittee investigating alleged irregularities in Pdvsa Services.

When asked about the managerial performance of Citgo former president Luis Marín, Noriega ensured that Marín implemented Citgo rescue plan by "resuming the path Citgo had to take," as the subsidiary was completely isolated from Pdvsa.

Noriega claimed that in 2002 Citgo spent USD 718 million "nobody knows in what." In this regard, he claimed that a company was created to control Citgo investments.
