Social responsibility directors sworn in
The members of the social responsibility board of directors, an agency created under the Radio and Television Social Responsibility Law, are to be sworn in during a ceremony at the Ministry of Communication and Information, as quoted by a press release from the ministry.
Minister of Communication and Information Andrés Izarra and Alvin Lezama, as the head of the social responsibility board of directors, will preside over the ceremony.
Public sector representatives were chosen last January 11th. Counsel María Alejandra Díaz was appointed for the Ministry of Communication and Information; Professor Xiomara Lucena, the director of educational communities, was appointed for the Ministry of Education and Sports, and Iván Padilla Bravo, the director of press and publicity, was appointed for the Ministry of State for Culture.
The board of directors is called to discuss and approve the technical standards arising out of the Social Responsibility Law; implement and enforce relevant sanctions; approve the outlays of the Social Responsibility Fund to back independent productions and critical education programs for the media, in addition to any other duties in connection with the law.
The social responsibility council and the commissions on radio and television programming will follow the establishment of the board of directors.
