The Colombian government Monday ensured that the military
equipments President Hugo Chávez' administration procured
from Spain are necessary supplies for Venezuela. She added
in this regard that Caracas has already informed Bogotá
of such a deal, an official spokesman for the Colombian government
reported.
Carolina Barco, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, said
that at the meeting held on Sunday with her Venezuelan counterpart
Alí Rodríguez Araque it was made clear that the
weapons represent a domestic necessity for Venezuela that
cannot be postponed, according to news agency DPA.
"They are some patrol boats, and some airfreighters. Both
the Spanish and the Venezuelan governments have disclosed
this information," Barco said.
