Attorney General's Office to charge Patricia Poleo with illegal use of information
Public prosecutor Alejandro Castillo will charge journalist
Patricia Poleo with having committed the alleged crime of
illegal use of classified information and documents in connection
with the assassination of national prosecutor Danilo Anderson,
according to a press release issued on Monday by the Attorney
General's Office.
The document states that these crimes are provided for in
articles 66 and 78 of the Law Against Corruption, and that
the decision to charge Poleo would have been taken as a consequence
of the probe launched into her and a group of police officers.
In the wake of the authorized raid on her residence on January
28, the Attorney General's Office found classified documents
and information that the journalist illegally used when publishing
them in "El Nuevo País" newspaper and when making them
public in Radio Caracas Televisión TV channel on December
6 and 8.
